Outside

Lace

An easy way of making a plain dress more interesting is to make a belt from wide lace or ribbon and/or add lace cap sleeves. 3 metres was enough to tie a bow around my waist and leave enough for future straps.

Outing

I would love to have a mirror like this.

Oreo cupcake. Verdict: too much icing not enough cake!

So much to do, so little time

This week has been very hectic for me. I try to manage a post a day but it's going to be more like averaging a post a day for the next few weeks.

Roses

I have a friend who is getting married soon and I shall wear this to her wedding. It's not often I buy a dress that's not secondhand but then it's not often I find a synthetic satin that looks so much like real silk from an inch away. The colour is more like the first three photos than the last.

Spring Blossom

I remade this gathered skirt to make the waist slightly bigger and the length shorter, a size 8 I am not. It was already handmade and sewn almost completely by hand when I bought it from a charity shop. I wonder who sewed it so carefully and then gave it away.

Dark

I wake up at 6:00am and it's no longer bright. I will miss the summer so much.

This is the least colourful dress I own.

Adventure Finds

Sometimes you find things you wonder how you lived without. This catalogue of buttons will provide useful inspiration as well as a guide to what buttons actually exist. The tea is vanilla and smells like cake. The address book is super cute and compact and saves me having to transfer addresses from diary to diary at year end. The yellow book is not really a book about being single but more a book of gorgeous photos about how different people decorate their own space. The dress I bought for my younger sister and the shoes are vintage Italian leather, perfect condition and were only £4. The coral nail varnish lasted an impressive five days without chipping.
