I read Stranger to Command by Sherwood Smith yesterday and realised how long it was since I first read its sequel Crown Duel - almost eleven years. Somethings never change. I'll always feel greater affinity to Elenet than Meliara, or even Nee or Oria. The marcasite and silver necklace of a court lady and the ready to paint fans I found in an Oxfam shop yesterday remind me of her. She's not a central character to either story but works towards her goals with quiet determination.
