Fienne

Fienne dresses to match the work she is currently undertaking. This means practical trousers and shirt for the sewing and dyeing rooms but gorgeous day dresses when meeting to discuss commissions.

All clothes except blouse - charity shops, Blouse - H&M

Zafienna Levant - Fienne to friends - owns and runs the most exclusive clothier in Aethyria. Clients are generally limited to the court of Aethyria. Even then Fienne has been known to repeatedly turn down a commission from a rude or annoying lord or lady.

The Levant clothing business is almost a guild in itself. Family owned and run, they take on anyone from almost any background provided they pass the strict aptitude tests. Apprentices adopted into the family must swear to keep the trade secrets. Fienne’s practice is to adopt poorer orphans who show skill at delicate fabric work and give them a better life while ensuring their loyalty to her. Thanks to the dedication of Fienne and her uncle, Levant’s has grown influential enough that attempts at industrial espionage are rare. When the ‘traitor’ became known – as it inevitably would – they would be deemed too untrustworthy to get another job in the city.

Fienne’s uncle retired and let her take over ten years ago. She loves her job, the respect the position gives her in merchant circles, and the chance to be a close observer of court life. Fienne has a flair for design, personally supervising commissions for her most favoured clients. She’s also a bridge between the concerns of the merchant class and those of the nobility; a shrewd observer of both – something that has not escaped a certain Dowager Duchessa and her stepson.
