To Cape It All

I never thought I would ever like a cape. They seem unwieldy and difficult. They still feel too impractical but I can see the appeal of wearing a blanket with arm holes. It's almost as good as wearing a duvet. I could put on a stone or two; have a baby or a stolen painting hidden under it and no one would notice.

So I mostly bought this because it's teal (favourite colour) and the lady who runs the second hand shop is hilarious. It came new with tags in from Asos and is 65% wool (and 0% polyester - I hate polyester mixed with wool or fake-wool-acrylic because the texture is like cardboard) so not bad for £25. It's also a useful prop in pretending to be a character from a book, which is always fun.

There's slits at the back for a tie back belt. The belt that came with it was black elastic and patent and looked all wrong. I plan to make a tie back in teal velvet or a nice brocade.
