It was very difficult to get photos today thanks to the heavy rain and strong winds. It was, however, the perfect day to try out the
new cropped jacket. It kept me warm while walking but not too warm; the tweed dried out fast and repelled the rain. Perfect! I chose this dress to wear with it, a deliciously gloomy print punctuated by dabs of bright orange and yellow. I bought it from Bus Stop Vintage along with the
1930s labour of love. I nearly didn't buy it because it's much unlike my vividly
bright favourite dresses but it's nice to have something different. I've decided the print is of a haunted garden, making it an excellent Halloween outfit. The cotton is very crisp and backed with tulle. The belt is the best condition 1950s matching belt I own and looks never worn.
The original zip has been replaced with a modern one which is a bit of a mystery. It's unlikely the dress was never completed as the dress has a label and is otherwise perfect. It's unlikely the zip rusted and needed replacing because the cotton is flawless and you'd expect some rust spots. My theory is someone tried the dress on in modern times and broke the zip getting in and out of the dress...!
